TimeNet Law 2.8 is here!

TimeNet Law 2.8 is now available! This new version brings over 50 new features and improvements. I am going to highlight 2 of them here in this post. Complete release notes will be at the bottom.

Internal Accounting

This is a big one. This has been the #1 requested feature for awhile now. Let’s take a look at how it works. First, please remember that this is a “1.0” feature release, and we are looking forward to your feedback. Let us know how it works, how it looks, what’s missing, what needs to be changed, etc. We’re listening! That having been said, let’s dive in!

The New Accounts Button

When you open TimeNet Law 2.8, you’ll notice the new Accounts button. This will bring you into the new Accounts view. Here you can add accounts and transactions:

TimeNet Law Accounts View

It is very easy to add accounts, and keep track of deposits, withdrawals and transfers. You can search through your transactions, categorize all income and expenses, and create General Ledger reports with total customization:

Creating G/L Report

Non-Destructive Time Rounding

This is a cool new feature used in conjunction with the Automatically Round Timers when Paused, but it works whenever time is rounded. Now, the actual time of the slip is remembered, so when the timer starts again, it will revert back to the pre-rounded time and begin timing. Here is an example.

Below, I’ve timed a slip for 3 minutes and 22 seconds. When I pause the timer, the slip will automatically be rounded up to my preference, 6 minutes:

Time Rounded Up

If you hover the mouse over the time, you can see the actual time:

Actual Time

Whenever the timer is restarted, it will continue from the actual time of 3:22, not the rounded time of 6:00.

So there you go. Just a couple of the more than 50 great new features and improvements in TimeNet Law 2.8. Check out what else is new below, and get your copy now!

TimeNet Law Upgrade Policy Reminder

In 2005, TimeNet Law 0.8 Beta was released. Since then, TimeNet Law has gone through many updates, been given hundreds of new features and fixes, and the family of TimeNet Law users has grown from a couple dozen excited, Mac-centric attorneys to now over a thousand.

We have never charged one penny for upgrades over the last 7 years. It was something that we wanted to avoid, to keep it simple and affordable to use TimeNet Law. However, as our user base grew, so did our need to support those many new users. Unfortunately, it is now to a point where we must charge a small fee for upgrades. We wanted to make the policy as simple and fair as possible, so here’s how it works:

When you purchase TimeNet Law, you get 1 year of free upgrades. Any users that purchased TimeNet Law before February 15th, 2011 (the day the new policy and prices went into effect) were given a free year of upgrades from that date. So, if you purchased TimeNet Law before February 15th, 2011, your upgrade plan will expire on February 15th, 2012.

To find out when your upgrade plan expires, simply go to “About TimeNet Law…” from the TimeNet Law menu.

So what is an upgrade plan? It’s simple. As long as your upgrade plan hasn’t expired, you can always download the newest version of TimeNet Law for free. You will also get priority support in the event you have any questions or issues. Once your upgrade plan expires, you can continue to use your current version of TimeNet Law, for as long as you want, you will never be locked out of the system. You can download the new versions and check them out, but they will run in demo mode. You can then renew your upgrade plan, or revert to your last version of TimeNet Law, renewing at a later date if you wish.

I also want to thank you all for using TimeNet Law, thank you for all of the wonderful feedback, and thank you for the last 7 wonderful years. Here’s to many more, and your continued support will take us there!
