AppleSource Goes Mobile

Okay, I finally did it. I bought two iPhones. A 4GB and an 8GB. If you’re expecting a review, this is all I have: no words! It’s slick. Too slick. Painfully slick. And oh so powerful. This is your entire office and living room. In your pocket. Movies, games, music, the web, email, contacts, a full calendar, and so much more.

I’ve hacked it, of course. I’ll go into details another day. Right now it’s 4am and I need sleep. Tomorrow is the big update of TimeNet, TimeNet Law, and MOMD. To top it all off, I have to drive down to Eugene for an all-day meeting. I’d be totally nervous to leave right after three big releases, but this gives me a golden opportunity for a real-word field test!

Will the iPhone let me monitor server traffic, respond quickly to emails, view hits, sales, and send registration codes (via running my registration application on the iMac remotely with the iPhone Remote Control?) Stay tuned to find out! A full review of the iPhone at its best: as a full-fledged mobile office.

And then maybe I’ll tell you how I got my own ringtones, the Unix BSD subsystem, a Nintendo emulator with Super Mario Bros. 3, three of my favorite DVDs, games, a text editor, a customized dock and SpringBoard, and a full remote-access application on there, too.

Full review, more pictures of both phones, and Ian’s thoughts all to come. Check back!
